Gladys Childs is a speaker, consultant, author, church leader, professor, pastor's wife, and mother. She brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and a personalized style to each client that she serves. Gladys spent over 8 years on various church staffs as Education, Youth and Children's Directors. She formerly served as the Chaplain of Texas Wesleyan University for 6 years. Gladys has also worked to obtain $130,000 worth of grants for the Chaplain's Office at Texas Wesleyan University and for the LifePoint United Methodist Church. Currently, she is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Religion and Humanities Department at Texas Wesleyan University.
Gladys obtained her M.Div. degree from Brite Divinity School, after having earned a Ph.D. degree in Foundations of Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She also holds an M.A. degree in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a B.A. with a double major in Counseling and Psychology from Ouachita Baptist University. Also, she is an ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church.
Gladys' speaking, consulting and writing focuses on helping educational ministries and their leaders maximize their effectiveness and stay current with educational pedagogy and technology. She has helped church leaders and other individuals conduct in-depth assessments of their personal lives to discern God’s vision for their future, formulate changes and establish implementation plans. She is the author or co-author of several articles/papers. Currently, she writing her first book on discipleship.
Gladys has developed and taught seminars for the Texas Conference Chapter of the Christian Educators Fellowship, the National Learning Communities Conference, the International Society for Exploring Teaching and Learning, the R.E.A.P. Conference, the Lilly National Conference, the National Conference of the Christian Educators Fellowship and others.
Gladys loves being a motivational speaker to all age groups to encourage individuals to honor God, others and themselves and live out the fruits of the spirit.
Gladys and her husband Thomas have been married for 18 years and have one son.
